Dr. Babasaheb Ambedkar Mahavidyalaya has a very rich and well equipped Library. The area of the Library measures over 2200 sq. ft. on Ground floor of the college. The library has a capacity of seating 50 students. It is fully automated and has open access. It has a collection of 20,000 + books and 2 periodicals/ Journals and 10 news papers in three languages. The books are organized as per Dewey Decimal Classification (DDC) system. It has subscribed to DELNET. In addition, the Library has subscribed to N-List. As a result the Library provides access to e-resources of roughly 3000+ e journals and over 10 lakh e- books.

Library Timings :

10.00 a.m. to 6.00 p.m. (excluding Sundays and Bank holidays)

The library has 4 sections:

Students Reference section:

It has seating capacity of 50 students and includes the reference section and the knowledge museum.

Reading Hall:

It provides access to magazine/periodicals, syllabi, last five years question papers, new arrivals, newspapers, competitive books section, books related to women issues and empowerment, amazing facts and short stories, rear books, etc.

E-Zone : It has 4desktopsand connected to internet with a speed of50 MBPS.

Issue counter: To issue the books and periodicals on daily basis two issue counters are provided. Issue of books and periodicals is done for 1 week.

Staff Reading Room:It is located in the centre ofthe main library and is provided with newspapers, magazines and one desktop in LAN with ICT .

Special Facilities:

Additional Library card for Toppers: This card is provided to the first 3 meritorious students from each class for home issue of additional 2 books.

JAM Card: JAM card is issued to student for the issue of 2 additional books for 15 days, as an additional facility for advance learner programme.

Library Wizard Award: Student from Degree collegeare awarded “Library Wizard Award” certificates every year for making maximum use of library resources.

Inter Library Borrowings:The College Library has provided for Inter Library Loan (ILL) facility.

Senior citizen facility: Senior citizens can avail the library facilities between 10:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m

Facility to Alumni:The library card is issued to alumni on request.

Facility to Students from Nearby Areas

The Library has made special provision to provide reading material and other resources of the Library for the students from the nearby area who preparefor various competitive examinations. Special reading Hall for such students has been named as “Ashoka Reading Hall”.

Library Events :

Library Orientation program: Library conducts orientation program for all first year students to introduce them to library rules and regulations, SOUL 2.0software, library resources and facilities.

Book Review Competition:

Book review competition for students is organized to encourage reading habits among the student. Cash prize andcertificates are awarded to the winners.

Intra-college book exhibitions:
  • Annual display of subject wise library collection
  • Theme based library book exhibition
  • Display of weeded out books which could be picked by students and staff
Library software –SOUL 2.0:

(System For Library Information Management) –SOUL 2.0softwareis used in the library for day to day operation of library and Library management. It is multiuser software having the following features:

  • Easy search access to books, periodicals, managerial reports
  • OPAC -facility to search & reissue of books from 9.30am –6.00pm
  • Visitors Log module
